COLLEEN BAXTER

COLLEEN BAXTER

At an early age, Colleen Baxter discovered her natural talent for drawing and gradually turned to painting when she received a gift of a watercolor paint set. She was later introduced to oils by her middle school art teacher and continued to paint off and on over the years but never showed her work until a few years ago. Considering herself a landscape painter, her paintings are exhibited throughout the year in various venues in and around the St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida areas.

"I can’t remember when I wasn’t aware of the colors in the landscapes around me. At every turn, nature gives you a perfect picture, whether it is in the country or on city streets. Growing up in the Midwest, it was the golden wheat fields waving in the wind or the old red barn with the faded signage on its side. In Florida, it has been the wetlands and the wild life. In my travels to Europe, it’s the quaint villages with their ancient stone buildings and the history oozing out of every cobblestone street. Once in a while, there is that tiny second when suddenly and without warning, nature will give you the right combination of color, light and shadow. My mind’s eye struggles to remember those moments and I strive to take them back to my studio and get them on canvas, for they will never come again. All of these things have always inspired me to pick up a brush."

Colleen Baxter is an active member of Studio 1212 Art Gallery and the Creative Artists Guild of Dunedin.  She serves at the pleasure of the Safety Harbor City Commission as an appointed member of the Safety Harbor Public Art Committee. You can purchase her work at Studio 1212 Art Gallery or at Colleen’s website.

DIANE CLEMENT

DIANE CLEMENT

Diane Clement has had a lifelong connection to art; creating paintings from an early age, earning a BA in Art, teaching art in public schools and adult education, giving workshops and doing theater set design. Her focus on impressionism for many years has evolved to currently creating more expressionistic and abstract paintings. She enjoys working intuitively, experimenting with applying and removing paint, using various tools and thus co-creating with whatever medium she is using. Her intention is to allow a sense of light to appear, often through translucent layers, and to give the viewer an opportunity to connect with the light.

Diane’s creative journey continued when she relocated from Maine to Florida.  She is a member of Studio 1212 Art Gallery, Dunedin Fine Arts Center, and Creative Artist Guild.

She may be contacted at [email protected] or by phone or text at 207-703-9666.

TRISH CRAIG

TRISH CRAIG

Artist Statement

This year my focus has been on creating collages with meditating figures in imagined environments. My intention was to capture the place where we go when we enter an altered state. Weaving the pieces together before I glue them is my favorite part. My goal is to marry the edges with color and textures that surprise the viewer combining the familiar and the unexpected.

Biography

Trish Craig retired to Florida in 2019 after several careers including teaching art in public school as well as at local art centers, newspaper production/graphic design, and a successful business creating commissioned watercolor “portraits” of people’s homes. She immersed herself in making collages ten years ago and finds this medium is very freeing. Recently, Trish became a member of the Tampa Bay Collage Clique.

Trish’s practice includes painting the model at Hale Senior Center. Her current interests include travels to creative re-use stores and rummage sales where she collects second hand magazines.

In 2026, her goal is to learn more about the connection between art and wellness, focusing on expressive art.

JILLIAN DUBOIS

JILLIAN DUBOIS

Artist Statement

My mission as an artist is to cultivate and share joy through whimsical and visually soothing art. As a published author and illustrator, I translate this artistic mission into work that promotes social-emotional healing and encourages hope, viewing every act of creation as my essential therapy.

Spreading Joy Through Art

Inspired by her aunt, an artist, Jillian DuBois has pursued her passion for painting and drawing since the age of ten. Largely self-taught, she uses traditional watercolors (along with acrylics and colored pencils) to create imaginative and calming pieces on paper and canvas, aiming to spread positive messages and make the world a more joyful place.

Jillian is a published author and illustrator focused on social-emotional learning, having created several children's books and her recent coloring book for all ages, Life in Bloom: A Book to Creatively Color + Contemplate.

KATHY PEDREIRA

KATHY PEDREIRA

In speaking of her creativity, Kathy has this to say: “Painting is the most calming and peaceful thing I do. It helps me through life’s difficulties. While I have taken many classes and workshops with outstanding artists like Tony Couch, Janet Rogers, Jane Slivka, and others, I’m primarily a self-taught artist in watercolor and acrylic. My love of the landscape and flowers, both realistic and abstract, are my favorite subjects. Just ‘playing’ in my paints is a day well spent!”

TRISH PELLETIER

TRISH PELLETIER

Artist Statement

For me, art-making isn't about the finished piece on the wall; it’s about the adventure of getting there. My work, whether rendered in the fine detail of colored pencil, the bold layers of acrylic, or the fluid possibilities of digital illustration, is rooted in the joy of experimentation. By prioritizing the evolution of a mark over a predetermined outcome, I can explore the restorative potential of creative flow. In a fast-paced world, my work is an invitation to slow down, drawing the viewer into a space of quiet contemplation and peace.

Trish’s academic foundation in Graphic Design (BS) and Education (M.Ed), combined with her certification as a Zentangle Teacher (CZT), informs her art practice. She teaches a variety of art classes/workshops online and in-person in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. She focuses on the wellness benefits of mark-making as a path to presence and respite from daily stressors. As Trish’s website (TangleWithTrish.com) states about her teaching: Each workshop is unique and designed to build self-confidence, strengthen muscle-memory, and nurture individual artistic style, in a relaxing creative environment where “No Mistakes” is the only rule!

Creative Process

Trish’s art process is meditative, incorporating color transitions, defined lines, and intricate textures that often fill abstract areas. The convergence of these forms suggests deeper images and narratives. She creates contemplative spaces that invite viewers to pause, reflect, connect, and immerse themselves in the beauty of the present moment. Guided by the rhythms of nature and the flow of energy, her compositions find harmony in the interplay of color, line, and texture.

Trish is a member of the Coastal Calligraphy Guild (CCG), the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA), the Dunedin Fine Arts Center faculty, the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA), the Miniature Art Society of Florida (MASF), the National Organization for Arts in Health (NOAH), as well as Studio 1212 Art Gallery.

She can be reached by email at [email protected].

ROBERT SCHNEDLER

ROBERT SCHNEDLER

Robert's interest in art began in childhood.  While in eighth grade his art teacher, Charles Napier, introduced him to watercolors.  He became enamored with the medium that could blend colors spontaneously on paper.

His art education has consisted mainly of reading books and watching videos but he has also taken figure drawing classes in college, attended workshops presented by world renowned artists and participated in a variety of community based art classes.

Prior to painting full time Robert worked as a clinical psychologist which reflects his natural interest in people’s stories.  Other life experiences as a husband, father, construction worker, woodworker, horse wrangler, sailor, boat builder and a youth spent on the Gulf Beaches of Florida add to his attempts to tell a story in context.

As with many artists, he struggles to convey the emotions that stir inside in a manner that invites the viewer to share in the experience while allowing their own perspectives to contribute to the final interpretation.  For him painting has no end game. It is a continual journey of exploration in which he invites the viewer to share in his travels.

Robert is a member of Studio 1212 Art Gallery and Dunedin Fine Art Center. He is also a Signature Member of Northstar Watermedia Society.

He can be contacted at [email protected].
